Get physical parts for design reviews, assembly checks and product development. HY3D Print brings 3D printing, CNC machining and model making together in Dongguan, China, with a process recommendation based on your drawings and intended use.
Start with the decision your prototype needs to support. An appearance model can communicate shape, color and finish; an assembly prototype needs attention to interfaces and critical dimensions. A functional prototype also needs an agreed material and test conditions. Sending that purpose with the CAD model helps us review the manufacturing route before you invest in the next design revision.
Define the review
Tell us whether you are checking appearance, fit, assembly or function. Identify the features you need to evaluate and which surfaces will be visible. For an automotive or display model, include the scale and presentation reference.
Review the files and process
Send the current model revision and any dimensioned drawing. We review the requested material, geometry, quantity and finishing together. If you want to compare printing with machining, ask for both routes against the same drawing and acceptance requirements.
Agree on approval and the next batch
Confirm the sample scope, required measurements, finish and destination before production. If the prototype will lead to a pilot run, share that plan now so the next quantity can be quoted separately. A prototype's appearance alone does not establish production-material performance.
Manufacturing routes to discuss
Choose a service below for process-specific applications, material considerations and quote requirements. The final route is confirmed after reviewing your project.
Discuss white or clear resin for appearance models, detailed presentation pieces and visual components. Identify where transparency or a cosmetic finish matters.
Request machined prototypes when your project calls for a specified material, threads or defined functional surfaces. Critical dimensions need a drawing review.
Consider in-house filament printing for shape reviews, jigs, fixtures and development parts. Material and build orientation are reviewed for the application.
What to send for a project quote
Latest STEP, STP, STL or OBJ file, with units and revision
Prototype purpose, quantity and intended use
Material preference, critical dimensions and assembly interfaces
Color, visible surfaces and finishing references
Sample approval requirements, destination country and target date
Parts are manufactured in Dongguan, China, not at a local US or European facility. Send your delivery country and postal code with the CAD revision, quantity and target arrival date. Identify drawing units explicitly: millimeters or inches.
Request a quotation that separates parts, finishing, tooling where applicable, and freight. Confirm who handles import clearance and any duties or taxes before ordering. Production time and transit time are separate; neither is guaranteed before review.
Agree on the sample before the batch
Mark critical dimensions, mating surfaces and cosmetic requirements on a drawing. Ask us to confirm the available material documentation, inspection records and sample approval method before production. Tell us about any confidentiality agreement before sending sensitive design files.
For regulated or safety-critical applications, identify the required certifications and tests first. A workshop photo or sample image is not evidence of certification or suitability for that application.
Before you order
How much does a rapid prototype cost?
The quote depends on geometry, dimensions, material, quantity, finishing and inspection. Send the same model and requirements when comparing processes. Identify any modeling work and shipping requirements so the scope is clear.
How quickly can I receive prototype parts?
Production timing is confirmed after reviewing your files and the current production plan. Include your sample deadline and destination; distinguish manufacturing time from international shipping and any sample approval steps.
